Courchevel 1850 has a reputation for being one of the most glamorous resorts in Europe attracting the rich and famous, many of whom own chalets in the resort. Indeed, at certain times of the year it is almost inevitable that you will bump into a celebrity or two on the slopes or in one of the bars or restaurants.

Facilities in 1850 include the Olympic ice rink, Ten Pin bowling alley and indoor climbing wall. There are numerous top quality hotels and a variety of bars and restaurants to suit all budgets.

1850 is the most expensive resort in the area so shopping is strictly for those with bank balances to match and you will find several designer clothing and jewellery shops displaying items with price tags that will make your bank manager weep! Watches are a particular favourite with one of the more exclusive ranges 'starting' at €500,000.

Immediately below 1850 is the smaller resort of 1550 which tends to be more family orientated and benefits from a direct cablecar link into 1850. There is a floodlit luge run between the two resorts for those who haven't exhausted themselves on the ski slopes during the day. The resort also has a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Our next chalet ...... we wish!

Further down the mountain (10 minutes by navette) is the charming village of Le Praz (Courchevel 1300) with its lake and floodlit Olympic ski jump which you will see on your way up the mountain towards the main resorts. Some of the black runs down to Le Praz can be very challenging and when the snow is good, the Jockeys run down to the village is one of the best .... but be careful.

La Tania (1350m) completes the resorts in the Courchevel valley. Originally built for the 1992 Olympics, La Tania has grown significantly over recent years and the long runs down through the trees make an excellent option when visibility on the mountain is poor.
