For most of the year, Moriond is a sleepy mountain village with a few local residents but each year, from mid December until the end of April, the whole area is transformed into a winter wonderland and chic alpine ski resort.

There are all the facilities you would expect in a top quality resort - numerous hotels, bars, restaurants, shops and 3 excellent supermarkets selling everything you will need for a self catered family holiday and even its own local cinema and church. There is a weekly street market where you can buy local cheeses, meats and wines and the Tourist Information Office (see links) in the centre of the village will provide you with all the information you need on local activities and events during your stay in the resort.

In the centre of the village you will find the two local ski schools, Ecole Ski Francais (ESF) and the award winning New Generation ski school, which has established itself as the ski school of choice for most British visitors to the resort.

Courchevel 1650 is a more relaxed and less pretentious resort than its more illustrious big brother at 1850, a mere 5 minute free bus ride up the mountain. Equally close to Courchevel 1550 and only 10 minutes from le Praz, 1650 is ideally located for anyone wishing to explore the other resorts either on skis or by navette (shuttle bus) which stops immediately outside our apartment complex and runs regularly throughout the day and into the late evening.
Between 1650 & 1550 is the swimming pool complex (Les Grandes Combes) with its 10 tennis courts, climbing wall, basketball court and restaurant although most of these facilities are closed during the winter season when the area opposite the complex is used for Go-Karting on Ice - a must for all those who have never tried it before!

In summary, Courchevel 1650 has everything. Excellent north facing ski slopes which retain the sun late into the afternoon and always seem to have the best snow conditions in the Three Valleys ... no wonder Courchevel 1650 is known locally as 'The Sunny Place'
